Bridging the Achievement Gap

Since 2008, Su Casa Hispanic Center has created a warm, nurturing learning environment every summer  through the Vacaciones Útiles youth enrichment program.

Each year more than 50 children entering preschool through the second grade spend the summer preparing to be better students with hands-on learning exercises to boost critical thinking skills, extra study to improve reading and math competency as well as social instruction.

Vacaciones Útiles, Su Casa’s Summer Enrichment program, bridges the academic achievement gap between Hispanic/Latino youth and their peers. It also includes sports and trips to the museums. The program engages the entire family with weekly parent workshops focusing on child development and nutrition.
