The Second Harvest Food Bank opened in 1981 to serve neighbors in need by providing food to local pantries and soup kitchens. From the humble storage space behind the Children’s home on East Home Road to its distribution center today on E. Colombia Street, the Second Harvest Food Bank always has served its neighbors with respect and compassion.

In recent years, Second Harvest has become its largest “customer” as it began serving more of its neighbors directly through its Springfield Pantry and mobile pantries. About 1.1 million meals are distributed directly to neighbors in need through the Springfield Pantry and another million meals are distributed through the monthly mobile pantries to under served areas in Clark, Champaign and Logan Counties.

Second Harvest strives to provide Food for All. Through its pantries, Second Harvest Food for All remains committed to reducing hunger by feeds is neighbors.
